Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 16, 2026

This policy lists the cookies Fret Beam™ sets, what each one is for, and how long it lasts. Fret Beam is a product of Fret Beam LLC. For the bigger picture of how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. We group ours into three buckets: essential (the site can’t work without them), attribution (remember which campaign brought you in), and analytics and advertising (measure and improve our marketing). Essential and attribution cookies are first-party cookies we set on every visit; the third-party analytics and advertising cookies follow your consent choice, described at the end.

Essential cookies

  • Authentication / session cookies (Supabase). Set when you sign in, to keep you logged in and to secure your session. Without them you couldn’t stay signed in or reach your account.
  • Consent choice cookie (fb_consent). Remembers whether you’ve accepted or declined analytics and advertising cookies, so we don’t ask on every page. Lasts one year.

Attribution cookies

These are set on your first page view so that, if you sign up later, we can connect the signup back to the ad or link that first brought you here. They hold campaign and click information, not your name or email.

  • fb_attr, your first-touch and last-touch campaign details (source, medium, campaign). Lasts 90 days.
  • fb_gclid, the Google Ads click identifier from your visit, if present. Lasts 90 days.
  • fb_fbclid, the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) click identifier from your visit, if present. Lasts 7 days.
  • fb_ttclid, the TikTok click identifier from your visit, if present. Lasts 90 days.
  • fb_ckref, set only when you start a checkout, so that when you come back from the payment page we can record the purchase once and not twice. It holds a random reference and what you chose to buy, never your name, email, or payment details. Lasts one hour.

Analytics and advertising cookies

When analytics and advertising are active, the following third-party tags may set their own cookies to measure page views and conversions and to support advertising:

  • Google Analytics 4, usage and conversion measurement.
  • Meta Pixel, conversion measurement and advertising for Facebook and Instagram.
  • Google Ads, conversion tracking and remarketing.
  • Microsoft UET, conversion tracking for Microsoft/Bing advertising.
  • TikTok Pixel, conversion measurement and advertising for TikTok (including its _ttp first-party identifier cookie).

These tags are governed by the providers’ own privacy policies. Where we forward conversion events to these platforms server-side and the event includes your email, the address is hashed with SHA-256 first. See the Privacy Policy.

Embedded video

Some pages on fretbeam.com embed a video player instead of a plain video file. These players are not cookies and are not covered by the consent banner described below; we describe them here because they are the other way a third party can learn you visited a page.

  • Vimeo powers every video on the site: the home page hero, the /obs-kit page hero, the OBS Kit course videos, and the demo videos on /videos and /about. Every Vimeo embed loads in do-not-track mode, so Vimeo sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and records no analytics. On most pages and most screens nothing is requested from Vimeo until you press play. On a phone-sized screen, every Vimeo-hosted video loads Vimeo’s player already sitting on the page, paused, so that your first tap starts sound; in that case Vimeo receives your IP address and the page URL when the page loads, even if you never press play. See Vimeo’s Privacy Policy and Vimeo’s Cookie Policy.
  • YouTube is only a fallback player now, embedded from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com) and used only if Vimeo ever can’t play. What still runs on every visit is the resting poster image for the demo videos on /videos and /about, fetched from YouTube’s image host (i.ytimg.com); loading it sends Google your IP address and the page URL. If you ever do reach the fallback YouTube player, what Google stores from there is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Your choice

We use Google’s Consent Mode v2 with a region-gated banner. If you visit from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, or from a US state with a comprehensive privacy law, the analytics and advertising cookies above stay off until you accept them; the essential cookies are still set so the site works. Outside those regions those cookies may be set by default, and you can decline. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Changing your choice takes effect on your next page view.
